He is survived by: his wife Kathy George; his children, Todd Mitchell, Scot Mitchell, John George, Jr. and Karen Thompson (Stephen, family: Cheryl Ransick, Jerry George); his grandchildren, Haley Gray (David), Cory Mitchell (Theresa) and Kaylan Mitchell; his sister Linda Harwood; his niece Brandi Mather (Chris); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Xander and Ivy Mather; and his close friends, Joe K., Teresa and John Smith. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location. An entombment will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:15 PM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens (8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115).
