It is with great sadness that we announce the death of LaVera Tillman (Machesney Park, Illinois), who passed away on May 15, 2026, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of LaVera Tillman to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Nathaniel George Higgs II and Pauline Elizabeth Higgs (Emanuel); her husband James Tillman; her child Baby Boy; and her siblings, Vernita Higgs Watts, Rosalee Brannan Higgs and Charles Brannan Higgs.

She is survived by: her siblings, Dr. Nathaniel Higgs III and Dr. Kamalee Williams; her children, Kimberly Boykin (Warren), Keith Tillman (Ellen) and Kevin Tillman; and her grandchildren, Joshua Kyle Boykin, Sarah Elizabeth Luebke (Mitchell), Tiffany Champion (Adam Garner), LaTaunya Beth Tillman, LaShanda Tillman, James Tillman II, Jacquelyn Tillman, Alexzundra Tillman and Bre Anne Tillman. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and numerous loving friends.

Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the WOUNDEDWARRIORPROJECT.ORG.
