We are sad to announce that, on January 7, 2026, at the age of 91, Sharlett V Tays of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonnie Hill and Leo Hill (Mask); her husband Lloyd Tays; her daughter Virginia Ruth Whitehead; and her siblings, Bernice and Walter.

She is survived by: her children, Bert Tays and Rebecca Smallwood; her grandchildren, Kim Akers, Tiffany Smallwood and Lindsey Smallwood; her great grandchildren, Sophia, Molly, Skyler, Ashlynn, Clayton, Aubreya, Sevastiana and Sa'myna; her great great grandchildren, Micha and Da'mir; and her nephew Steve.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
