He was predeceased by: his parents, Bonnie and Paul; his sister Debra Moline-Swenson; and his brother-in-law Doug Moline. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his son Fred Ekberg (Amy); his granddaughter Adestin Ekberg; his godson Blake Donaldson (Sydney); his siblings, Marlene Donaldson (Daryl), Kelly Allen (Rick) and Mark Petersen; his nieces and nephews, Megan Schumann, Paul Petersen (Tammy), Connor, Garrett Donaldson, James, Lucas Johnson and Alivia Johnson; his aunt Phyllis Huber; and his siblings-in-law, Craig Swenson, Theresa Johnson and Linda Schuepbach (Tom). He is also survived by many cousins, great nieces/nephews and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115).
