He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard L. Compton and Edna Hays Compton; and his son James. He is survived by: his daughters, Julie Owens (Roger) of Decatur, Joanie Schertz (Jim) of Washington and Jill Hild (Brian) of Tremont; and his grandchildren, Brady, Jamie, Jacie Hild, Jonathon, Jordan Schertz and Keith Owens (Moriah). He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
