He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Whalon and Beatrice Whalon (Owens); his daughter Summer Danielle Whalon; his siblings, Bev Kreps, John Whalon Jr., Bud McCoy and Noah Steele; his siblings-in-law, Vera McCoy, Donna McCoy and Vern Geer; his niece Donna Davis; and his nephews, David McCoy, Damon Kreps, Chauncy Kreps, Earl Steele and Jamie Davis.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Darlene Beck; his daughter Heather Whalon Briggs (Randy Pickle); his grandsons, Hunter and Austin; his siblings, Rose Geer, Jerry McCoy and Davie McCoy; his sisters-in-law, Donna Mann and Ann Whalon; and his niece Toria Ellis (Jeff).

Memorials may be made to Spring Lake Park or to the Bert Whalon Memorial fund.
