It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Akers of Macomb, Illinois, born in Lincoln, Illinois, who passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Tolles and Mable Tolles (Geitz); her former husband Raymond Nylind; her spouse Glen "Whistle" Akers; her stepmother Pearl Geer Akers; her siblings, Imogene Tolles, Virginia Constable Maurer and Robert Tolles, Jr.; and her stepbrothers, Lyle Ward and Leslie Ward.
She is survived by: her stepdaughter Ann Maitland (Larry) of Denver; and her stepgrandson Ross Maitland of Colorado. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She also volunteered for RSVP and was honored to sing in the World Premiere of John W. Peterson's "The Good Life" in Boca Raton, Florida.
