He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenwood Murray and Pearl Elizabeth Walbring Smiddy; his siblings, Gary Smiddy and Wanda Schaller; and his children, Glen Smiddy, Deanna Aikman and Angela Smiddy.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Zihlman; his children, Scott Smiddy (Julie) of Roanoke, Sharon Schwab (Greg) of Eureka, Kimberly Anderson (Steve) of Brighton, Kendra Zihlman of Macomb, Kevin Zihlman (Kate) of Tiffin and Kirk (Emily) of Houston; his children-in-law, Debbie Dixon (Stan) of Colchester and Joseph Aikman (Michelle) of Eureka; and his sisters, Carolyn Hanson of Carthage and Joyce Milby (Michael) of Ottumwa. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, (nine grand-spouses), 35 great-grandchildren (one on the way), and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home (303 E Washington St, Macomb, IL 61455). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Argyle Bible Church (5135 N 1250th Rd, Colchester, IL 62326).
Memorials may be made to either the Argyle Bible Church or St. Jude's.
