He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Chaplin and Delores Chaplin (Coffey); and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Gallagher and Robert Kirchner. He is survived by: his wife Lorrie Kirchner; his daughter Kayla Whiteaker (Berek) of St. Louis; his grandsons, Hendrix and Jaxon Whiteaker; his siblings, Greg Chaplin (Lynne) of Park Forest, Illinois and Nikki Sisak (Scott) of Grand Rapids, Michigan.; his brother-in-law Dennis Gallagher; his brothers, John Burkhart (Carol), Ron Kirchner (Laura) and Dave Kirchner; his sister-in-law Gerri Kirchner; and his friends, Tim Howe, Suzan Nash and Max Nash-Howe. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Thus, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Foundation (in the check memo line "Emergency Services or Drive-Through Lab") or to his favorite radio station, Tri-States Public Radio.
