He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Jefferson and Virginia Jefferson; his brother Dale Jefferson; and his son-in-law David Gilbert. He is survived by: his children, Diane Gilbert of Gilbert, Kurt Jefferson (Lori) of Jeffersontown and Karen Kelso (Kurt) of Macomb; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Gilbert (Addie Moy), Jason Gilbert (Danielle), Jill Van Dolah (Ryan), Kelly George (Andrew), Jenna Dively (Tyler), Megan Jefferson and Nicole Ritter (Gregory); and his great grandchildren, Aden Gilbert, Oliver Gilbert, Devyn Gilbert, Cade Van Dolah, Everly George, Bennett Van Dolah, Beckett George and Griffin Ritter.
Memorials may be made to the Western Illinois University (WIU) College of Business or the "Dr. Robert W. Jefferson Merit Scholarship Fund" at Western Kentucky University (WKU).
