It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Roy Harris of Makanda, Illinois, born in Carbondale, Illinois, who passed away on September 6, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Oscar Harris and Sylvia Harris (Laffoon); his wife Ruby Caroline Wolf; his stepfather George Tiller; his son Charles "Chuck" E. Harris; and his siblings, Jack, Jerry Harris and Verdonna Campbell.

He is survived by : his daughter Verdonna "Sis" Otey (John); his grandchildren, Heather Ramsey Key (Dillion), Jessica Block (Jeff), Amy Cope (Tyler), Briana Badad (Oussama) and Warren Otey (Emilee); his great grandchildren, Blade Lada, Nicholas Baggett, Wyatt Rowan, Autumn Rowan, Grayson Cope, Gabe Otey, Brylee Otey and Peyton Otey; his siblings, Jim Harris (Pat), Vic Tiller and Joyce Cox (Clyde); and his daughter-in-law Mary Jane Harris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
