She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Smith, Sr. and Ora Smith; her husband Tommie Lee Nicholson; her children, Lisha Nicholson, Linda Nicholson, Cassandra Nicholson and Sherman Nicholson; her siblings, Lavera Mitchell, Glenda Faye Blakemoore, William Smith, Raymond Smith, Edward Smith, Jr., George Smith, Vernell Smith, Helen Smith, Vervee Smith and Deborah Nicholson; and her close friend Mattie Gilbert.
She is survived by: her children, Donell Nicholson (Christina), Lavern Nicholson, Ronnie Nicholson, Brenda Everage (Darryl), Tommy Nicholson (Joyce) and Kevin Nicholson. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Bethel AME Church (316 E Jackson St, Carbondale, IL 62901). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
