He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Schafer and Vivian Schafer (Worden) of Malta; his sister Alice Cradduck; and his nephew Brian Schick. He is survived by: his significant other Marce Ellis; his daughters, Joan Jachowski (Phil) and Debra Schafer; his partner's son Nick Ellis; his grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler Jachowski (Dani), Alex and Anna Ellis; his great grandchild Avery Jachowski; his sister Barbara Schick (Robert); his nephew Greg Schick (Liz); and his niece Tara Sommers (Joe).
