She was predeceased by: her parents, Bette Markman and Webster LaVette; and her brother-in-law Lamarr Thomas. She is survived by: her husband Jack William Brouwers; her children, Timothy Brouwers (Amy) of Manteno and Kate Schamel (Tom) of Richmond, Indiana; her grandchildren, Alexcis Anderlik (John), Jake Schamel, Hannah Schamel, Mason Brouwers, Lily Schamel, Nate Brouwers, Will Brouwers and Sam Schamel; her great grandchildren, Renn Potter and Elowyn Potter; and her siblings, Jeffrey, Bonita LaVette of Manteno, Christine Thomas of Naperville, Jana, Joe Mangano of Crete, Robert and Bonnie Markman of Skokie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church or Uplifted Care in Ellen's memory.
