He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Poppe and Elda Poppe (Miller); his wife Irene Poppe (Telschow); and his son-in-law Jeffery Greenhagen. He is survived by: his children, Linda Greenhagen of Livermore California, Ellen Doescher (David) of Carpentersville Illinois, Steven Poppe of Portland Oregon and Karen Poppe of Marengo Illinois; his grandchildren, Rochelle Greenhagen (Kevin Malone), Elissa Knoff (Drew Van Denover), Kristin Heller (John), Meredith Knoff and Serena Doescher; and his great grandchildren, Hailey and Reese Heller.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (412 Jackson St, Marengo, IL 60152). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at the Marengo City Cemetery East St (101-199 N East St, Marengo, IL 60152).
