He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles and Marlene; his brother Lenny; and his father-in-law Jack Schwank. He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Shannon Mielas (Matt Brainerd) of Jack Thomas and Anna Koelper (Josh); his grandchildren, Colin, Caden, Leah, Gunnar, Gage, Bryce, Dane, Jaxson and Walker; his mother-in-law Marilyn Schwank; his sister-in-law Jackie Loehner (Dave); and his siblings, Bill McGuinn, Chuck McGuinn (Karen), Steve McGuinn, Cynthia McGuinn, Sharon Kelly (Bob) and Bobby McGuinn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Marengo Rescue Squad District or Young at Heart Pet Shelter in Woodstock.
