With sadness, we share the passing of Cheryl L. Woodson (Marion, Illinois). Cheryl, born on August 16, 1949, passed away on September 19, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Swanks, II and Beatrice Swanks; her brothers, Donald and Marion J. "Jerry" Swanks, III; and her former husband Floyd E. Woodson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Regina Woodson-Harley of Marion, IL, Sherry Woodson of Aurora, IL, Marcella Woodson of Carbondale, IL, Ashley Woodson-Gaddy (Robert) of Mt. Juliet, TN and Valantha Woodson of LaVergne, TN.; her grandchildren, Eric Harley, Jr. (Allison), Areana Harley, MarQuisha Edwards, Austin Holder, Kennedy Holder-Purvis (Taylor), Jahmil Wright, Dallas Alicia Ursery, Nyles Gaddy, Juliana Gaddy, Makenzie Antley and Keaton Hamlett; her great grandchildren, Bradyn Harley-Summers, Malachi Harley-Summers, Roman Harley, Keturah Harley, Adrian Purvis, Montavious Wimberley, Ava Harley-Gibbs and Miracle Wimberley; her siblings, Doris Cross of Cairo, IL, Carolyn Whitaker of Matteson, IL, Marilyn Jackson of Snellville, GA. and Michael Swanks of Calumet City, IL.; her aunts, Joyce Wade (Pie), Marie Brock and Luella Reeves; her close friend Gary; and her sisters, Rhonda, Sissy, Janice and Corrine.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Refuge Temple (1106 Phemister Dr, Marion, IL 62959). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens (Villa Ridge, IL 62996).
