David will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor David by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though David is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. David’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Shirley and Idis Shirley; and his nephew Joshua Holder. He is survived by: his siblings, Dan Shirley of West Frankfort, Paul Shirley (Amy) of Murray, Kentucky and Ruth Ann Holder (Fred) of Carterville, Illinois; his niece Christy Wright; and his great-nephew Braxton Wright of Carterville, Illinois.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Blairsville Cemetery (609 E Market St, Blairsville, PA 15717).
Memorial donations may be made in David's honor to the Melanoma Research Foundation or Hospice of Southern Illinois, in Marion.
