It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gary Otey of Marion, Illinois, who passed away on October 7, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Hale and Elnora A. Otey (Anderson); and his siblings-in-law, Robert Lowell and Karen Eairheart. He is survived by: his wife Jan Otey of Marion; his son David Lowell Otey of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Keira Otey, Kylie Otey and Gavin Scott; his siblings-in-law, Vicki and Thomas Mann of Johnston City, IL; and his sibling's children, Trisha Butler, Brain Eairheart, Sarah Behm (Greg), Richelle Ghibaudy (Joseph), Ashley Mann and Russell Mann (Lisa). He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other extended family members and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home (900 N Court St, Marion, IL 62959). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the "American Heart Association" or the "American Cancer Society.".
