He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Clinton Smith and Molly Jane Smith (Price); his sons, Herbert P. Smith Jr. and Kevin Meneese; and his stepfather Elmer T. Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Smith; his daughter Candida Payne (Jeff) of Eldorado, IL; his children-in-law, Nathan Cockrum (Amanda) of McKinney, TX, Jacob Cockrum (Julie) of Marion, IL and Jordon Cockrum (Brandon); his sister Clarice Chamness; his mother-in-law Wanda Melvin; his brothers-in-law, Larry Melvin and Mike Simmons (Ann); and his caregiver Teresa Atwood. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many friends and several children.
