As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elmer Burgess and Wilma M. Parmley; and his wife Cynthia Burgess. He is survived by: his sons, Brian Burgess (Cassie) of Marion and Kevin Burgess of Marion; and his grandchildren, Bryson and Allison Burgess of Marion.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Grange Hall Free Will Baptist Church (9950 Grassy Rd, Marion, IL 62959). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Williamson County Fire Protection District – Chief Jeremy Norris Scholarship Fund, a cause that was meaningful to Jim and his family.
