He is survived by: his children, Tammy Benge of Iowa, Melinda Gates (Michael McCombs) of Pensacola, Florida, LT Timothy Gates (Sara) of Austin, Jeremy Gates (Mylinda) of Marion and Andrew Gates (Shalini) of Memphis, Tennessee; and his siblings, Mary Peterson (Bill), Nancy Kuker (Jim), Sandy Vosberg (Dave), Jim and Jerry Gates.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home (104 E Prospect St, Shell Rock, IA 50670). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 24th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the same location.
