He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Verlin Bland and Margaret Weaver Bland; his daughter Donnetta Smith (Richard); his granddaughter Dana Warner (Chad); his great grandchildren, Ally Garcia and Cade Warner; his wife Dorothea Bland; and his brothers, Herbert Bland and Murl Bland. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

“We will miss Uncle David greatly. He and Aunt Dorothea were special people. Their love for God, each other and for their family was evident, and I'm so thankful they had such influence with Mom & Dad (Bob & Phyllis Johns), especially with the loss of his father at such a young age. As a child and as an adult, I have such fond memories of their beautiful farm and cherished conversations. Our prayers & thoughts are with you, but we celebrate knowing we will gather in heaven because of our Hope.”
