He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Simmons and Ellen May Simmons; his stepfather Donald Hardy; and his sister Vicki Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Jody Mattea; his children, Stacy Jedda (Aaron), Heather Simmons and Steven Michael Simmons; his stepsons, Derek Mattea and Corey Mattea (Danielle); his grandchildren, Allysa Holster (Grace), Madisyn, Camden, Peyton, Jameson and Gracie; his great grandchild Sarafina; and his brother Terry Simmons (Suzanne).
Visitation was held on Monday, November 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (7110 IL-162, Maryville, IL 62062). A memorial service was held on Monday, November 17th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
