It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Avanelle K. Spitz of Mattoon, Illinois, who passed away on July 17, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Krabbe and Lucille Krabbe (Rhoads); her husband Joseph R. Spitz; her brother Wayne E. Krabbe (Verta Mae); and her sister-in-law Sylvia Busbey.
She is survived by: her daughter Julie Rock; her son-in-law Jeffrey of Dunlap; her grandchildren, Ben Rock (Mallory) of Chicago, Rachel Houglum (Ryan) of Minneapolis and Adam Rock (Christina) of Chicago; and her great grandchildren, Noah, Lucas, Elizabeth Houglum and Avery Rock. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (320 N 21st St, Mattoon, IL 61938). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
