It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ellen Elder of Mattoon, Illinois, born in Jonesboro, Illinois, who passed away on April 3, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Vivian Ellis (Frick); her grandparents, Dan, Doris Frick and Claude; her parent Galvin Ellis; her brother Wayne Ellis (Kay); her siblings-in-law, Grace Garner (Doris) of Cobden, IL, Katherine Balance (Eugene), Clara Rose Sellars (Carl) and Ernest Elder (Chris) of Cobden, IL; and her parents-in-law, David and Clara Elder.

She is survived by: her husband Raymond Elder of Mattoon, IL; her children, Bradley Elder (Mary) of Mattoon, IL and Cynthia Garner (Kevin) of Palatine, IL; her grandchildren, Alan Watkins (Amy) of Orland Park, IL, Kent Watkins (Danielle) of Mattoon, IL, Nathan Elder (Anna) of Terre Haute, IN, Ryan, Matthew Garner of Palatine, IL and Lisa McMecham (Bub) of Greenup, IL; her great grandchildren, Edison Elder, Olivia Watkins, D'angeilo and Saphira; her sister Donna LeMoine (David) of Wildwood, MO; and her brother-in-law David Elder (Tana) of Petersburg, IL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in her honor may be given to American Heart Association, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Cancer Center, or First Baptist Church Building Fund.
