Though William Joseph may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those William Joseph touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Carlos Hood and Lyndal Jean Hood (Windham); his wife Patricia Hood of Mattoon, IL; his son Shane P. Hood of Charleston, IL; his sisters, Sara Browning and Carly Hood; his niece Ashley Davis; his great-nephew Roxas Oden; and his sister Deborah Cline.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schilling Funeral Home (1301 Charleston Ave, Mattoon, IL 61938). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, May 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (320 N 21st St, Mattoon, IL 61938).
Memorial donations in his honor may be given to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation.
