Carol Ann Walsh nee Longley passed peacefully on Sunday December 11, 2022 in McHenry Illinois.

Born April 29, 1946 to John and Verda Longley, "little" big sister to John (Diana) Longley. Carol was married February 26, 1966, to Charles "Chuck" David Walsh, who was in the Navy on the USS America. They settled in Ingleside Illinois near Carol's parents and had three children. The late Charles "Dave" David Walsh Jr., Christopher Dean Walsh, and Catherine "Katie" Rebecca Walsh. When her kids were young, she enjoyed remodeling their home, refinishing furniture, sewing, snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing, working as a ski instructor and patroller at the local ski hill, traveling to national parks, camping, and working as McHenry Post Office Rural Route one mail carrier to pay for her fun. In her mid 40's her family built their dream home on the water in McHenry. At the age of 50 she started taking flying lessons in Wonder Lake and earned her pilots license, she enjoyed renting a plane to fly to Wisconsin Dells to gamble, or to Longley's restaurant for lunch. Carol enjoyed baking, spending time with her dear neighborhood friends, her Potted Potters, planting flowers in the neighborhood and then sharing great dinners and wine on Sundays. She was an amazing woman that loved traveling with her husband and friends, and doing anything outdoors, she volunteered on local bike paths, enjoyed modifying her Jeep Wrangler, riding her Harley Davidson, 4- wheeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, boating, crafting, quilting, embroidering, gambling, playing Mahjong and so much more. She disliked wasting time or money and found it best to save both by learning to do things for herself and if you didn’t know how to do something she would take the time to show you how to do it for yourself.

Quilting, by far was her favorite past time. She and her friend Janet enjoyed going quilt shop hopping through Illinois and Wisconsin, visiting local shops, and collecting beautiful fabrics. She had a very creative mind and would quickly pull fabric together to make stunning quilts, which she loved to share with family and friends and proudly displayed in their home.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Chuck, who was her constant companion and partner in adventure. He was with her every day, taking great care of her while she was ill. Her "Big" little brother Johnny and his wife Diana, their son Tom, and his wife Lupe. Her Sister Nancy McCoy and her husband Mark.
Her son Chris and his wife Lisa. Her daughter Katie Helmer. Bonus children Mike and Megan Goebel, and Jay Helmer.
Her grandchildren Daniel Walsh, Vanessa Walsh, Jacob “Jade” Walsh, Kendra Goebel, Alexis Stalter and her husband Rylie, Matthew Goebel, Mickey Walters, Drake Helmer, Jayce Helmer, Jared Helmer. Michael Munson, Amanda Munson, and Taylor Goebel
Her great grandchildren Devin, Rylie Jr., and Donnie Stalter; Dominic, Frankie, and Izzy Vechiola; Chloe Albrecht, Royalty Walters, Jazman Menard, Lilah Hoyt.

In honor of Carol please raise a glass of wine or rum and declare Shenanigans on Friday at 2:00pm. A celebration of life will be planned for a future day.
