She was predeceased by: her parents, Nicholas Diedrich and Elizabeth Diedrich (Brown); her husband Gerald J. Schmitt; her son-in-law Len Charlan; and her siblings, Verona May (Alfred), Marie Sompel (Joe), Agnes Hay, Catherine Smith (Robert), Tony Diedrich (Florence), Henry Diedrich and Charlie Diedrich.

She is survived by: her children, JoAnn Charlan of Johnsburg, Mary Winter (Russ) of Buckeye, AZ, James Schmitt of Crystal Lake, Arnold Schmitt (Sheryl) of Capron, IL, LeRoy Schmitt of Johnsburg and Michael Schmitt (Maureen) of Johnsburg; her sister-in-law Bernice Diedrich; her grandchildren, Michelle Schmitt (Chris Payne), Kim Hagen (Scott), Randy Schmitt (Stephanie Miller), Kari Biggs (Chris), Tina Schmitt, Matt Schmitt, Dan Schmitt (Kristen), Nathan Charlan (Renee), Nick Charlan (Pamela), Jenni Mattingly, Jeff Winter (Meggan) and Jon Schmitt; and her great grandchildren, Kendall Schmitt, Andrew Winter, Austin Mattingly, Cooper Mattingly, Morgan Schmitt, Chloe Payne, Arya Hagen, Kyla Hagen, Evan Schmitt, Zachary Charlan, Madison Charlan, Emmett Charlan, Hudson Winter and Aubrey Winter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
