He was predeceased by: his parents, John Compton and Clarice Purvey (Miller); his siblings, John Compton Purvey II, Patti Church, Lynn Bruce and Peggy Lozynski; and his stepdaughter Carolyn Spears.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Purvey; his children, Dan Shanahan (Laura), Danielle Spiewak (Tadd) and Gretchen Corteen (Jon); his stepdaughters, Shelley Carroll and Jenny Krstich (Rod); his grandchildren, Zack, Sam Spiewak, Luke, Grace Corteen, Haley Hoffman, Keegan Carroll, Christopher Lesik (Brandi), Garrett Fischer, Kyle, Caitlyn and Cameron Spears; and his brother Alan Purvey.
