She was predeceased by: her parents, Halbert M. Phillips, Sr. and Venita B. Phillips; her husband Samuel K. Read; her stepchildren, Deborah Russel and Dennis Read; and her siblings, Betty Read, Dorothy Jefferies, Alice Troy, Charles Phillips and Halbert M. Phillips, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Andrew Read (Mandy) of Mt. Vernon, IL, Christina Welton (Doug) of Shelbyville, IL, Michele Taylor of McLeansboro, IL and Marla Heiman (Alan) of Cowden, IL; her stepchildren, Kenneth Read (Rebecca) of Powers Lake, ND, Evelyn Read of Kenmare, ND and Angela Atwood (Dannie) of Snohomish, WA; her niece Cathie Jefferies-Waite; her close friend Kay McKenzie of McLeansboro, IL; Nancy McDonald of Indianapolis, IN.. She is also survived by Thirty-four grandchildren, sixty-eight great grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Antioch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 and will be accepted at the service or at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro which is assisting the family with arrangements.
