It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerome C. Henkel (Mendota, Illinois), born in Streator, Illinois, who passed away on April 20, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Jerome departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Jerome may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and the legacy Jerome leaves behind.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Henkel and Lorraine Henkel (Hochstatter). He is survived by : his children, Dea Karns, Kory Wood (Bill), Ron Karns (Carol), Ryan Karns and Jacob Henkel (Rebecca); and his sisters, Maureen Weber (Bob) of Sublette, Sue Hahn (Lindy) of Peru, Jeanne Schlesinger (Gale) of Cedar Rapids, IA., Pam Henkel of Mendota and Shelly Henkel of Mendota. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wasmer Funeral Home (2112 W Main St, Mendota, IL 61342). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Cross Church (1010 Jefferson St, Mendota, IL 61342).
