He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman W. Bernius, and Adrian Bernius, Sr. (Van Maastricht); his spouse Jean West; and his children, Judy and Michael.
He is survived by: his children, Jan Vicary of East Peoria, IL and Kathy Cook (Don) of Bartonville, IL; his daughter-in-law Phyllis Bernius of Vermont, IL; and his siblings, Henry Bernius (Phyllis) of Amarillo, TX, Barbara Cordes (Harold) of Eureka, IL and Carolyn West of Chico, CA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Mason Funeral Home (219 E Partridge St, Metamora, IL 61548). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, Attn: Office of Development or to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, P.O. Box 5072, Peoria, IL 61601-5072.
