He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin John and Frances Lee Schaffer (Riepe); his grandparents, John Henry, Amelia Schaffer (Moller), Herman Casper and Clara Anna Maria Riepe (Schmidt); and his brother James Irvin "Jimmy" Schaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Denise Schaffer (Jennings); his stepsons, Andrew Inman (Jane) and Lukus Inman (Leah); his grandchildren, Hannah Inman, Evan Inman and Emma Inman; and his sister Joan Schmidt (Clyde). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
