We are sad to announce that on September 30, 2025, at the age of 89, Jo Ann Griffey of Metropolis, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Jo Ann farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Jo Ann is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Bolen and Lennie Mae Bolen (Taylor); her husband Alfred R. Griffey; and her brothers, Carroll Bolen and William Bolen.
She is survived by: her daughters, Judy Smith (Scott) and Sandra Lassy; and her nephew Steve LaPradd. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Loftus-McManus Funeral Homes Inc. (70 Jon St, Metropolis, IL 62960). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
