He was predeceased by: his father Jim Johnson; and his grandparents, Bob, Marie Maxey, Fred and Marie Johnson.

He is survived by: his spouse Dana Krueger; his children, Jimmy Johnson (Bailey) of Andalusia, Rachel Johnson of Andalusia and Gia Johnson of Andalusia; his mother Roberta Johnson; and his siblings, Julie Derrer (Rod) of Milan, Lori Frakes (Steve) of Illinois City, Kim Schroeder (Rob) of Milan and Brian Johnson (Cortney) of Milan. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews; and 9 great nieces and nephews.
