He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Nelsen and Jeanne Nelsen (Erickson); his wife Alice "Jeanie" James; his brother Doug Gradin; his sister-in-law Eileen Nelsen; and his parents-in-law, George and Maxie James.
He is survived by: his sons, Mike Nelsen (Katy), Matt Nelsen (Missy) and Milan; his grandchildren, Shelbi Frakes (Hunter), Hannah and Reed Nelsen; his siblings, Mick Nelsen (Marie), Terry Nelsen, Gail Graves, Marise Bennett and Jeff Nelsen; and his sister-in-law Karen Esparza (Tom). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Milan Christian Food Pantry.
