He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund C. Hansen and June Hansen (Tesdahl); his brothers, Edmund and Richard Hansen; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Hansen and Dee Hansen; and his nephew David Hansen.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Seymour Hansen; his children, Douglas A. Hansen (Sara), Karen A. Hansen and Eric N. Hansen (Cody Hendricks); his grandchildren, Josh Brown (Carrie Kain), Syra Hansen, Stephen Hansen and Braden Hall (Melody Gilmore); his sister-in-law Vickie Seymour; and his nieces and nephews, Dennis (Jacqui), Diane Schaff (Mitch), Val McKinney, Victoria Springer (Paul) and Ryan Seymour (Helen).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Minier Fire and Rescue Squad, the University of Nebraska Marching Band, and the American Parkinson's Foundation.
