He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Smith and Lena Smith (Rupert); his sister Rita Jean Harms (Smith); and his niece Eldonna Harms. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Brad Smith of Pontiac, IL, Karen Johnstone (Bill) of Palatine, IL, Ashley Johnstone of Arlington Heights, IL, Will Johnstone of Franklin, TN, Ryan Smith (Melody), Mary Smith and Anna Smith of Gurnee, IL.; and his nephew Ladd Harms (Julie) of Washburn, IL..
