He was predeceased by: his parents, Milford Smith and Edna Smith (Weikert); his wife Ida Adamson; his brothers, Warren "Bobby" and Raymond Smith; his grandchildren, David II and Christine; and his great grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Smith, Muscatine, Steven Smith (Jane), Rose Cavins (Gary), Connie Bristol (Mike) and David Smith Sr. (Carole) of Indianapolis, IN; and his sister Wilma Purviance (Russell). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; 1 great-great grandchild.
