He was predeceased by : his parents, Roger Forret and Anne Forret (Marsho); and his sister Kathy Mitton. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Stewart; his children, Jeff (Beth Forret), Todd (Lesley Forret) and Jennifer (Michael Johnson); his grandchildren, Gracie, Connor Forret, Kiah and Ellie Johnson; his brother Gene; and his sister-in-law Jan Forret of Catlin, Illinois..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Literacy Connection, a cause dear to Gary's heart, at 1611 41st Street, Moline, IL 61265.
