He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Peter J. Doering and Marjorie D. "Sandy" Sanquist Doering; his son Bill; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Smet and Katy Smet.
He is survived by: his children, Bob Doering of Beckley, WV and Kay Ballinger (Tucker) of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Zarek, Cosette Doering, Bella and Benton Ballinger; his sister Pat Boruff (Gary) of Venice, FL; his niece Aimee; and his nephew Jim Toney of Phoenix, AZ..
