He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Vandygriff and Martha Vandygriff (Singer); his grandparents, Hattie, Harvel Vandygriff, Leona and William Singer; and his in-laws, Gene and Jeanzoe McCarter.
He is survived by: his wife Kym Vandygriff (McCarter) of Rock Island; his children, Patrick Vandygriff, JJ Vandygriff (Bailie) of Rock Island and Tara Hiscox (Ryan) of Milwaukee; his grandchildren, Myla and Leah Vandygriff of Rock Island; his siblings, Greg Vandygriff (Andrew Conway) of Australia, Susan Vandygriff (Lisa Moye) of Orlando and Sandy Gaither (Greg) of Spokane, Washington.; his in-laws, Jerry McCarter (Jan), Deni McCarter (Mike Johnson), Terrence McCarter (Mary), Erin McCarter and Cyndy Gette (Tom); and his nieces and nephews, Dr. Heather McCarter (Jordana Bungard), Justin McCarter, Ben Rodriguez, Nick Rodriguez, Melissa Mueller (Michael), Kate Klaver (Micah), Matt McCarter (Melissa Davis), Carter Gette, Holter Gette and Briar Gaither.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Gene & Jeanie McCarter Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Friends of Douglas Park.
