He was predeceased by: his mother Darlene Sims (Melkush); his brother Jim; his nieces, Amy and Jennifer; and his nephew Christopher.

He is survived by: his father Roy Sims; his wife Shelley Broughton Sims; his children, Kristy and Cody; his grandchildren, Xavier, Avayeh and Mila; his daughter-in-law Merc; his sister Penny; his brother-in-law Bobby; his brother David; his children, Autumn and Mitch; and his uncle Lee. He is also survived by stepsisters, nieces, nephews and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future disbursement.
