He was predeceased by: his father Everett Asplund; his stepparents, Norma Asplund and Raymond Voss; and his brother Steven Asplund. He is survived by: his mother Muriel Asplund (Samuelson) of Bettendorf, Iowa; his children, Amanda and Jason; his wife Sherry Johansen; his son Seth; his daughter-in-law Amanda Asplund of Port Byron, Illinois; his daughter Amber; his son-in-law Jason DeLaRosa of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his grandsons, Holden Clayburne and Alaric "Ari" Asplund; his sister Shelley; his brother-in-law Brian Trunnell of Bettendorf; his stepfather Albert Kipp of Hampton, Illinois; and also, Terry, Rich Smith, Scott and Victoria Johansen.

Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Mike's memory.
