He is survived by: his wife Karen Smith; his children, Thomas VandeKerckhove (Kristy) of Evanston, IL and Michele Smith (Tim); his grandsons, Daniel, Isaac Smith, Aiden and Drew VandeKerckhove; and his siblings, Nancy Prouty (Davenport) and Michael VandeKerckhove (Carole) of Lincolnshire, IL..
