She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Joseph and Marie Evelyn Bender (Dreifurst); her sisters-in-law, Deanna Bender and Lynda Bender; her niece Abby Scott; and her parents-in-law, Lester Dean and Ruth Ann Witzel.
She is survived by: her husband Dale Witzel; her daughter Susanne; her son-in-law Jon Cornmesser of Moline; her grandsons, Dade and Drayk Cornmesser; and her siblings, Terry Bender (Sandy) of Milan, Dale Bender of Atlanta, Mary Lou Kennedy (Joe Herman) of East Moline, Jodi D'Hondt (Bill) of Coal Valley, Nancy Corelis of Coal Valley and Barb Scott (Doug) of Davenport. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sandy's memory to "Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa in honor of Abby Scott".
