He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Peter and Beulah Mae Hart (Reimolds); his son Donald Hart, Jr.; and his siblings, Merlyn, Bernard, Kenny Hart and Carolyn Thomas.

He is survived by: his wife Gertrude "Gert" Decker of Monmouth; his sons, Dan Hart of Galesburg, Eric Hart (Judy) of Roseville and Tyson Hart (Kristin Rowley) of Oquawka; his grandchildren, Rebecca Hart, Lauren Hart, Christi Hart, Sydney Hart and Ben Hart; and his sister Janice Ryder (Jerry). He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
