He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Mathisen and Ellen Mathisen (Quist); his wife Joyce Mathison; and his siblings, Helen Nelson, Jim Mathison, Charlie Mathison, LeRoy Mathison, Floyd Mathison, George Mathison, Donald Mathison and Ed Mathison.
He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Deitering (Jerry) and Patricia Morris (Steven); and his grandchildren, Stephanie Clark (Scott), Brandon Morris, Joline Morris and Jordan Morris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Monroe Center Community Church (102 West St, Monroe Center, IL 61052). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the Highland Garden (9800 IL-76, Belvidere, IL 61008).
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Northern Illinois Hospice or Monroe Center Community Church.
