He was predeceased by : his parents, G. Wayne Griffin and Wovetta Griffin (Blickenstaff). He is survived by : his wife Barbara Griffin (Hecox); and his pet Lady.

“I remember some very fun, if quite competitive, ping pong tournaments in our basement whenever Dan and his parents came to visit us and likewise when we visited them. I also remember Dan having an amazing comic book collection when we were growing up. His drive for education was inspiring. Though we cousins didn't communicate a lot over the years, his passing stimulates fond memories and a shared sadness with all those who knew and loved him.”
